Lent 2017

Lent is a time where we are invited to spend time reflecting on ourselves, our spirituality and the things that can get in the way of our relationship with God. It is a ‘penitential season’- a time of repentance.
People traditionally give things up as a discipline to help them focus on God and right living. During this time people also take things up to enrich their spiritual lives.

Please join us at St Mary with St Richard during Lent as we explore the mystery of faith. Our Lent book is ‘Dethroning Mammon’, which reflects on the impact of our own attitudes, and of the pressures that surround us. This will be available for sale at St Mary’s church from Ash Wednesday onwards.

Our Lent film is the award-winning ‘The Theory of Everything’, starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones. Join us at St Richard’s Church on Shrove Tuesday, the 28th of February at 7:30pm for pancakes, with the film starting at 8pm.

This film then forms part of the discussions that our Lent course will take, called ‘The Mystery of Everything’. Join us on Wednesdays, from the 8th of March at St Richard’s at 7:30pm, for an 8pm start throughout Lent as we journey towards Easter.
